Remarketing (Retargeting)

Remarketing, also called retargeting, is showing ads to people who have already interacted with your business — such as visiting your website, watching a video, or engaging on social — to bring them back to convert.

Most visitors don't convert on their first visit. Remarketing uses tags, pixels, and first-party lists to build audiences of past visitors and engagers, then reaches them again across Google Search, YouTube, the Display Network, Facebook, and Instagram. Because these people already know you, remarketing typically delivers some of the lowest costs per conversion in an account.

Good remarketing is segmented and respectful: different messages for someone who viewed a pricing page versus a blog post, sensible frequency caps, and exclusions for people who already converted. It also depends on consent — privacy rules and browser changes mean remarketing audiences are increasingly built from consented, first-party data.

Example

Someone visits a roofing company's estimate page but leaves; over the next two weeks they see a Facebook ad and a YouTube ad featuring the company's warranty and reviews, then return to book an inspection.

How Sloss Digital uses it

We build segmented remarketing audiences by intent, cap frequency, and exclude converters — so warm prospects see the right follow-up without being chased around the internet.
