First-Party Data

First-party data is information a business collects directly from its own customers and audience — such as CRM records, email lists, purchase history, and on-site behavior — with their consent.

Unlike third-party data bought from outside sources, first-party data comes from direct relationships: leads from your forms, customers in your CRM, newsletter subscribers, and people who use your site or app. Because it's collected with consent and reflects real customers, it's both more accurate and more durable as browsers restrict third-party cookies and mobile platforms limit tracking.

In paid media, first-party data does two jobs. It improves targeting — through Customer Match, custom audiences, and lookalikes seeded from your best customers — and it improves measurement, by feeding hashed customer information and offline outcomes back to the ad platforms through enhanced conversions and the Conversions API.

Example

A home-services company uploads its list of past high-value customers to build a lookalike audience and sends closed-job data back to Google, so both platforms learn what a valuable customer looks like.

How Sloss Digital uses it

First-party data is the backbone of how we scale accounts: we connect CRM outcomes to the ad platforms and build audiences from real customers, so AI-driven bidding optimizes toward revenue instead of guesses.
