Reels Ads

Reels ads are full-screen, vertical (9:16) video ads that appear between organic Reels on Instagram and Facebook, built for short-form, sound-on viewing.

Reels is Meta's short-form video experience and one of its fastest-growing placements. Reels ads look like native Reels — full-screen, looping, and often with audio — and people can like, comment, share, and tap through. Because the format is immersive, native-looking creative tends to outperform polished, TV-style ads.

Effective Reels ads hook viewers in the first one to three seconds, use captions or on-screen text, keep important elements clear of the interface at the top and bottom of the screen, and feel like content rather than commercials. User-generated and creator-style videos are especially strong in this placement.

Example

A local coffee shop runs a 12-second Reels ad showing a barista pouring latte art, with on-screen text announcing a new seasonal drink.

How Sloss Digital uses it

We produce vertical, hook-first video specifically for Reels — often creator-style — rather than resizing horizontal ads.
