Conversion Tracking

Conversion tracking is the measurement setup that records valuable actions — form submissions, calls, purchases — and attributes them to the ads that drove them.

Without conversion tracking, an ad platform only knows that someone clicked. With it, Google and Meta learn which clicks became leads or sales, and their bidding algorithms use that feedback to find more people like your best customers. Tracking is typically implemented with tags (the Google tag, the Meta Pixel), server-side connections (enhanced conversions, the Conversions API), and imports of offline outcomes from a CRM.

The quality of your tracking sets the ceiling on campaign performance. Common problems — counting page views as conversions, double-counting, missing phone calls, or optimizing to form fills that never become customers — quietly train the algorithm to chase the wrong results. Fixing measurement is often the single biggest performance improvement in an account.

Example

A law firm tracks form submissions, calls from ads, and calls from its website, then imports which leads became signed clients so Google can optimize toward cases rather than inquiries.
