Ads Manager uses a three-level structure. The campaign sets the objective and, optionally, the budget; the ad set defines the audience, placements, schedule, budget, and optimization goal; and the ad holds the creative, copy, and destination. Ads Manager also provides reporting, breakdowns by placement and demographic, and tools like A/B testing and automated rules.
Ad accounts live inside a Meta business portfolio (formerly Business Manager), managed through Meta Business Suite, where businesses control access for employees and agencies, connect Pages and Instagram accounts, and manage assets like Pixels, datasets, and catalogs. Keeping ownership of those assets in the business's own portfolio — not an agency's — protects the business's data.
Example
A business owner grants their agency partner access to the ad account and Pixel through their business portfolio, keeping ownership of every asset in their own name.
How Sloss Digital uses it
We work inside our clients' own business portfolios with partner access — so the client always owns the ad account, the data, and the history.
